Oh and this ring is absolutely gorgeous and I would probably wear it out wherever I went but I would definitely take it off when I came home because of the design I wouldn't want it getting caught on anything

I had no idea they were so old!!! I thought ribbon skirts were relatively new, like 20-30 years old! They were definitely NOT very popular where I am in Winnipeg, Canada, until about the last 15 years or so. That's around when they exploded onto the scene and lots of native women would wear them, at least half. Now, it's about 2/3 of females that will be wearing them, elders, adult, youth, and children, sometimes even babies! 😊 My guess why is women FINALLY were being taught how to make them and were gifted them in community centres and such. But yeah, in the 90s I don't remember seeing them at all! Not at powwows, graduations, sweats, funerals, any other ceremonies, anywhere you would wear them for a special occasion. I just double checked with my mom and she said they weren't very popular until about mid-late 2000s. They existed but were very rare! Even she didn't know they date back to the 1800s!!! That fact alone is quite surprising! 😅😅 I'm so excited to make my own ribbon skirt, with my girls. I want to put pockets, and I'm making mine a circle skirt. Just doing a sweat in a standard ribbon skirt is just so ridiculous and soooo uncomfortable!! 😅😅😅😅

Darryl, Are you related to Kenneth Begay, I have two silver matchbox covers which are stamped with ‘KB’ and the Hogan symbol. Both also have carved Jade. I was surprised they had Jade and not Turquoise, by any chance can you provide any background on the time frame he used Jade or any other info. Thanks

No, if this is accurate, the green means that is in fact, a copper alloy but silver in its most usable form is allied with copper either 80% silver 20% copper or 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper if you’re using strong much acid, you’re going to react with the copper first, because it is the more reactive substance, so it will always go green firstall it tells you is, there is a copper alloy it doesn’t tell you what is annoyed with. It should eventually go a reddish brownie colour
